Last week was an excellent result for the club. We were challenged with the task of moving our home games to Kananook Reserve and thanks to everyone helping out, the day ran smoothly and we were able to get our sides on the park without a hiccup. Thank you to those who did help out and thank you to everyone else who came down and supported the club.
This week's games are:
Seniors @ Caulfield - 2:00pm
Reserves @ Caulfield - 11:45am Under 19s @ CPL - 9:30am Thirds @ Black Rock - 10:30am Netball Vs Heatherton - 12:00pm (Rohan Rd Courts)
Best of luck to the netball girls who play their final home & away match for the year. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like finals is a possibility this year, but we are extremely proud of what the girls have been able to achieve. Putting together a new team is always difficult, but they have done very well in their first year, being promoted to Division 3. The girls have started playing Thursday nights at Jubilee Park in the off-season to maintain match fitness. If you wish to go and support them, please feel free. The fixture can be found here: Frankston District Netball Association - Thursday Evening C Grade. There is a chance that the girls may go up a grade if they keep playing well so please keep an eye on the fixture.
It is going to be a big day at Caulfield for the seniors and reserves and we know that the under 19s want to bounce back after such a close loss last week. The thirds will be keen to keep winning to stay in the hunt for the top two.
The Bizzare Gazzard will be performing at our club rooms on August 2nd. This is only one week away so please purchase your tickets from the bar or online via our social events page.
Players are also reminded to sell their $3000 draw tickets. Another sensational night, but only if you get rid of all your tickets and pack the room. Let your buyers know that it is free beer on the night and they go into the draw to win $3000, all for a $10 ticket!
There is going to be a slight change of scenery for the remainder of the season. While it is disappointing, the weather has not been good to us and we will be forced to move all home games to Kananook Reserve until finals. It is not an ideal situation, but we must look at the positives; we get the chance to play where we train, the ground is well drained, the facilities are fully available to us and it is close to home. It was the right decision to make to ensure that all of our players have a safe ground to play on. This is invaluable coming into finals time.
The games this week are as follows:
Seniors Vs Doveton - 2:00pm
Reserves Vs Doveton - 11:45am Under 19s Vs Bentleigh - 9:30am Thirds Vs Doveton - 8:45am Netball - BYE
We are continuously working with the council to settle on a long-term solution for our ground. Right now we need to accept it and continue working to get the job done.
We call on all supporters to bring the Skye spirit with them and make a huge effort to get over to Kananook. With games being moved, we need everyone helping out as much as possible. We want our teams to prove that we can win anywhere at anytime and that our suuporters will follow our teams anywhere and cheer them to victory.
Supporters this week have extra incentive to make their way to Kananook. Not only is it 50-game milstones for Cam Petrie, Luke McGuiness and Blake Bormann, but it is the 150th senior game for Marc Frizell. "Frizz" has been at the club since day one and is the first Skye player to reach this milestone in our short history. Congratulations to Marc on this wonderful achievement. Let's make sure that everyone is around on Saturday to congratulate him and cheer the boys on to a win.
We need our supporters to get behind our social events. A reminder that we are hosting the Bizzare Gazzard at our club rooms on August 2nd. From all reports, he is a sensational hypnotist and turns sceptics into believers. Tickets are $30.00. Make sure you put your name down by visiting the bar at the club rooms.

Welcome back to our latest news page. This week is another big round in the club's journey towards September. All sides are sitting nicely, but there are still seven games to go in the home and away season and we need to make sure that we don't let our intensity drop off.
Make sure that everyone comes back to the club for awards. Saturday night will also be the date of our Trivia Night. Every year this event is a huge success and everyone has a great time. There will be lots of games and prizes as well as plenty of fun to be had. If you aren't on a table already, make sure you get your name down and pay your $10 entry. You are allowed to bring your own snacks for your table. Drinks are at bar prices.

Senior coach, Ben Walker, made his first appearance on the SFL Southern Footy Show over the weekend. Ben joined hosts Wizz, Sharpie and the Bugg for a chat in the studio in Mentone. It was a great session, with Ben able to give the listeners some insight into what is happening at the Hangar this season.
The League has awarded our superstar full-forward, Luke McGuiness, the BLK Player of the Round for his outstanding game against Highett. Spook played his 350th senior career game and kicked six goals to lead our boys to victory over the weekend. He is a great asset to our club and we are thrilled and proud to have him at our club.

All the best to all sides on the weekend. Let's come home with five wins!
Skye's very own secretary and super trainer, Jodie Pacey, spent some time at SFL headquarters last week to promote Ladies Round. Ladies round is a league initiative that recognises and celebrates the contributions that so many women make to our clubs. Jodie's comments say it all, but we are very proud to have boosted the club's family values in recent years and to have so many women now involved in the club is excellent for Skye FNC. Be sure to take some time this week to reflect on how far we have come and thank all the ladies for everything they do.
Unfortunately, last week was not the senior's week. They fought hard in horrible conditions but were defeated by Mordialloc. For a full run down on the game, download Benny's Brief.
The reserves, thirds and under 19s all recorded wins against Mordialloc, Cheltenham and St Pauls respectively, whilst the netballer were unable to get the win over Springvale Districts.
This week all sides are away. It will give our ground a much needed break after the shocking weather that we've had.
There are no functions on this week, but we still encourage everyone to get back to the clubrooms after the game. We really take huge steps towards building a great culture when everyone stays back for awards and has a chat.
On Saturday June 28th, we are hosting our Players Review. All players are encouraged to come up with an act to perform on the night. There will be a panel of judges to award scores and prizes.
Well also have Sandown Greyhound Day and Trivia night coming up in a few weeks. These are all sensational events and we encourage everybody to attend.
It's been a couple of weeks since our last game. We hope that everyone enjoyed the long weekend off. That's all over now and our minds are back on footy! We have another massive weekend at the hangar again this Saturday and we are looking forward to seeing everyone there.
All four football teams are at home again this week.

Under 19s Vs St Pauls - 10:30am
Reserves Vs Mordialloc - 12:15pm
Seniors Vs Mordialloc - 2:20pm

This Saturday night is our mid-year ball held at the Sandhurst Club. This is the first time that we have run this event and we are looking forward to seeing everyone there, dressed up. Tickets are $75.00 which includes free beer, wine and soft drink as well as finger-food. There are still a few places available so please be sure to pay for your tickets this week. Visit the events page for more details.
We are also postponing golf day for the time being. We have been offered a date later in the year which we think will work better for numbers and the hope of better weather. This day will happen, so stay tuned and keep registering your names for the day.
May is nearly over and we've had an excellent start to the year. We are entering perhaps the busiest period of the season. We have big games across the board as well as several club functions. It is a very exciting time and we are looking forward to the challenges both on and off the field.
It was a big day for Skye at Widdop Reserve in Moorabbin. The seniors, reserves and thirds all recorded wins against the Kangaroos. A huge thank you to the Moorabbin Football Club for hosting our three sides this week. Unfortunately, the under 19s and the netballers both went down to Dingley.
It was an excellent night at the club. There was a huge turnout to celebrate the wins and also to say Bon Voyage to Darren Love, our sponsorship manager. Darren is travelling overseas for a couple of months and it was great to see his friends and family come along.
We are looking forward to big weekend with all four football sides at home once again:
Thirds Vs Clayton - 8:45am
Under 19s Vs Clayton - 10:30am
Reserves Vs Oakleigh Districts - 12:15pm
Seniors Vs Oakleigh Districts - 2:20pm

*Hoping for an 11am game to give the girls a chance to get to Ladie's Day

If you cannot attend and wish to donate money to the cause, you can do so by following this link: http://vic.cancercouncilfundraising.org.au/SplashOfYellow
In attendance on the day will be Donna Bauer MP, Carrum Downs Skin Cancer Clinic and Bendigo Bank Carrum Downs. Among other prizes, we have a fully signed 2014 Essendon jersey (framed) and a fully signed 2014 Collingwood jersey to auction off. Please visit our social events page for more info.
The weekend again saw the seniors, reserves and thirds remain undefeated in their respective competitions. The seniors and reserves defeated Caulfield, while the thirds played hard to defeat Black Rock. The under 19s also came away with a win against Carrum-Patterson Lakes at home. Unfortunately, the netballers went down for the second week in a row, this time to Chelsea Heights.
We are looking forward to another solid week on the track to prepare for this weekend's games:
Our Sponsorship Manager and reserves player, Darren "Doctor" Love is leaving us for a couple of months to head overseas. We are having a small send off back at the club rooms after all games this Saturday. All are welcome.
