Round 7 Recap

It was dead silent at Carrum Downs Rec Reserve on Saturday. Of course all of our teams were playing away.

The thirds made the trip up to Camberwell to take on South Yarra on their home ground. The Lions started strong kicking the first goal of the game and catching our boys by surprise. For the first time this season, the thirds were in for a tight tussle. At the last change we had a commanding lead until South Yarra kicked six last quarter goals. Luckily our guys had done enough and held on to win by 22 points. Troy Docherty was dominant up forward again, while co-captain Heath Burridge again took best-on-ground honours.

Over at Peterson Street Reserve, our under 19s faced an undefeated Hampton side. It was an up-and-down performance but our guys remained competitive all day. They fought hard to get within four points in the third quarter, but Hampton were too good in the end, running out 36-point winners. Brandon Black was best-on-ground.

The reserves were sensational again, leading at every change. The only blight on their game was a lapse in performance during the third quarter. However, the damange was already done and the reserves powered on to win by 101 points. Faisal Payenda was best-on-ground.

The seniors then took to the field. After two straight losses, they were desperate for a win. It was a great contest throughout all four quarters. The Bombers started the final quarter down by 2 points but pushed themselves and eventually came away with a 6-point win. Coach Ben Walker was excellent, kicking three goals, while Adam Beness was superb again, receiving best-on-gorund honours.

At the netball complex, it was again a mixed bag of results. The A-team were able to defeat Lyndale by 27 goals, while the B-team were defeated by Mount Waverley by 25 goals.

We have another huge week coming up with all sides again playing away before the long weekend. The thirds will travel to Danenong, while the under 19s will venture to Hallam for a mid-afternoon game. Both the seniors and reserves will take on Springvale Districts at Springvale Reserve.

The netballers will of course be at the Dingley Netball Complex. The A-team face Chelsea Heights and the B-team will take on Highett.

Stay tuned for team selection later in the week and we look forward to seeing you over the weekend!
